I can’t remember the exact platform on which I first saw this place but I decided if we were ever going to Peru, we simply had to do this. If you are a nature lover and you are looking for a dose of adrenaline on your next trip, feel invited to discover the latest that is fashionable: Sacred Valley Peru Skylodge. Including it in your things to do in Cusco would be great.

The main way to get to the Skylodge Adventure Suites is a two-hour via ferrata (a pre-laid cabled climbing route supported with iron stepping rungs and pegs as well as cabled bridges and ladders). Via ferratas are harder than normal hiking, but they don’t really require specialized climbing skills. You just need a sense for adventure and no fear of heights.

The Skylodge Adventure Suites are actually three space-age capsules manufactured out of aluminum and polycarbonate. So reservations naturally run out quickly for this experience. I recommend to book six months in advance. Each suite sleeps up to four people. Each pod has beds, solar-powered lights, a bathroom(with a “dry toilet” system but no showers so be prepared. A 300 degree view allows you to appreciate the impressive view of this magic and mystic valley.

After about 2 hour’s climb we make it to the top and ate a dinner in the main communal pod was an unforgettable experience, the happiness at our huge achievement and the camaraderie between guides and guests. This is one meal I will remember forever.

The next morning we had a 7am breakfast (coffee, orange juice, fresh fruit, granola, ham, cheese, bread, jam, and scrambled eggs. Yeah, you’re above the clouds perched on a cliff in the Sacred Valley eating scrambled eggs.

I actually found it a bit difficult to sleep in our transparent polycarbonate capsule. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt like I was missing out on an exceptional once-in-a-lifetime experience. How often do you lie suspended in space bathed in moonlight surrounded by mountains and stars?

Talk about an adventure! The second half of our adventure was now to get down. We went on 6 different zip-lines down the cliffs. It was a thrilling experience to soar with speed across to the other side. The zip-lines were in great condition using extremely strong cables.
Would I recommend this adventurous experience? Absolutely! Going here would be a perfect combination with a trip to Machu Picchu since they are in the same valley.
